Rather than pay a mechanic $$$ to do it I decided to tackle it myself (with minimal assistance from some mechanics).

Its much more involved than doing it on an automatic. If anyone is thinking about doing this in the future I'd be more than happy to share my newfound knowledge.

Its fun pulling the tailshaft off huh?

I had to do that TWICE, dad and I decided that the "old" clip was "ok" for the drive gear so we resused it. Needless to say it broke off a few hundred miles later and you know the rest!
