Space Between TC and Flywheel
Space Between TC and Flywheel
What do I do with the space between the flywheel and tc? On my truck i put washers in there, b/c thats what my tranny guy said to do? Works ok, just want to know what you all would do?
the torque con. should slide up flush with the flexplate. but if washers work fine i'd leave it.

I always check (and space) the converter back on GM's. Often you will find too much clearance between the converter and flywheel. I push the converter in all of the way and then pull it out 1/8". Now I make up for the difference with washers (equal size of course). This allows the drive slot on the converter to fully engage the pump gear W/O pushing it into the backside of the pump. Many times a 350 will stop moving because the front face of the pump gears drive tang has worn off, PLUS it can tend to wear the pump due to uneven loading on the pump gear.
