Does anyone know how to ship a transmission?

I want to ship my 700r4 to Iowa. (Thanks to ebay )I called UPS and they said it had to be under 150 pounds. I have to ship the converter also. I've never done this before and I think it would be good for other people as well as me. Thanks.

You have to use a trucking line to ship a trans and you can look to spend about $120-150 on shipping it.

find someone with banding tools and band it to a pallet. i was thinking a 700r4 was UPSable. i'd hang it from a chain for a week or so and drain it then tape the openings and then put it in a trash bag and then a box with lots of duct tape to hold it together. i shipped a t5 this way with no problems.

I shipped a 700r-4 overseas, get a box to fit it but remember it has to be under a certain amount of inches,i used 2 clothes boxes (i forget the name of the box but it is perfect for this) from U-HAUL and put one inside the other and used 2-3 rolls of packing tape, the tranny arrived unharmed and all went well,it weighed 140 pounds without the TC
