700r4 rebuild

Alrighty i burnt out the shifting clutches in my700r4 and was wondering can you buy a brand new 700r4' for a 91 camaro rs v6, and is it cheaper to do it that way and take it and just have them put a new one in or does it have to be rebuilt. Also which is cheaper?

Re: 700r4 rebuild

I was quoted $1500 for a rebuild by a tranny rebuild specialist. That was a I show up with the car and they do all the work for me and give me a warranty on it sort of quote so it's on the high side.

Re: 700r4 rebuild

it only cost me 800 to probuild mine to handle 500 horsepower.... shifts really hard and been beating on it for a year... no problems... but this guy is my neighbor and has been doing gm transmissions for years... i took out and install the tranny myself... so that saved me a couple hundred right there...
