quick question about the TV cable's function....
I have an 84 TA I want to take for a test run around the block,I found out that the ridiculous 5' B&M linkage cable had melted over the tranny. I can patch that up with copper flex pipe & ducttape until I get a new 3' one,but the TV cable is still cut...(some dipsh*t at United Towing in D.C. cut the cables to steal the carb). the question is: can I take it for a short ride without hurting the tranny, and use the selector to shift from first through OD or is it just not a good idea to drive without it connected?

With the TV cable messed up, it might not want to shift at all. Even if it did shift, OD might not kick in. Grab a cable from a junkyard, it wont be to expensive at all. Then, after you replace it, make sure you adjust it properly. The trans' performance is affected bigtime by an out of adjustment TV cable!

The TV Cable is critical to the proper operation of the tranny. First off you wouldn't be able to judge how it and the car works and you cuold easily do damage to the tranny. I Think one from the dealer is @$22 so ti isn't worth taking a chance.

thanks fella's! $22....I'm not sure if I have that kind of credit.....he he,a new one is definitly in order and is only available from the dealer as I understand. I thought I'd ask anyways, because my friends little bro's friend believed that it was ok to leave the TV disconected because it only controled downshifting and the f-bodys conveinently have full range hand shifting capabilities.....since this is the same kid that used two rubber bands for return springs,I thought I should double check his references. thanks!
