After swapping in my new motor a few weeks ago,I haven't been able to find a bracket that would work with my TV cable. I set aside the cable and went about manually shifting for the mean time.Is this bad? Today I tried another bracket and finally got the cable to reach the throttle bracket on the carb,adjusted it,went for a test drive,but no downshift.The tranny also shifted way too smooth.It usually breaks the rear loose going into 2nd,but after hooking up the cable,it shifted like a Caddy.So I disconnected it again.What should I do? Will leaving it disconnected and manual shifting hurt anything?Thanx for any input.

It will kill your tranny, period.

I think Summit or someone like that makes an adapter to hook up a TV cable properly to a Holley. It must be right to work with a 700.
