i thinkn my tranny mount is dead, everytime i go over a bump i hear a knocking sound comming fomr underneath me...is this the tranny cause i think it is, and how ling can it go w/o a mount, will the tranny eventually fall out?

 

It could be the trany mount but probably not. If the transmission mount is gone and you nail it from a stop the transmission will lift up and fall back down when you let off the gas. You would hear a thud then more than if you went over a bump.

IF you car has a standard transmission you will also be able to see the shifter rise up and down on acceleration.

I'd say it is probably an exhaust pipe/mufler/converter banging on something when you go over a bump.

Regardless both are inexpensive and easy fixes. Trany mount is about 20 bucks Canadian so whats that 12 cents american and it only takes about 20 minutes to change with no special tools other than a jack required.

Exhast noise would probably be just a hanger also inexpensive
