What is my best bet for a rear end swap?

Hey guys, well here it is, I want to put in a posi rear end with lower gears but do NOT have a lot of money to do it, what's my best route? Did the V6's ever have posi? I've been told to get the rear end out of a V6 in the junkyard, good idea? I'd like 3.42's but 3.23's would be ok, I could always upgrade to 3.73's later right? Please help me out, I'm confused.

V6 cars often have good gears but NEVER have posi from the factory.

Cheapest way would be to get a 91-92 6-cylinder rearfrom the boneyard, which will have drum brakes , and maybe a good gear; then get the SLP posi for $99 and stick it in there. If you don't mind the drum brakes, that is the best possible setup for the least possible $$$.

V6 never had posi? I got my 3.27 posi disc rear out of a 89 V6 Firebird. Maybe its not stock but why would someone waste their time and install a posi-rear into a V6? Must be stock...

Were they even still using the 9 bolt (that's what has 3.27 gears) in 89?

I also would have to say it was swapped in, and would wonder why a posi 9 bolt in a v6 car, unless it was a built-up v6. Is it disc brake?

Maybe they didn't come stock but this bird had one. Its an austrialian 9-bolt, posi, disc, and definately 3.27. In my book it says 1989 came with 3.27 posi but I never bothered looking at the code on the axle cause I know its 3.27 and I know its posi.
