cant decide what to do..help
i just did the 2.8 to 350 swap...
Love it for sure. The problem is this...The 700r4 I put in isnt what it was supposed to be...As i'm sure you all relize The engine swap cost alot $$$$$. Well I'm not a rich man
I have a newly rebuilt th350 sitting in my garage..my question is this....how much trouble is it to convert to the th350. I know summit has a conversion kit for 90.00, says it will bolt up, using the same driveline and trans mounts...anyone used this kit? Or....would I be better off rebuilding the 700r4....performance is a must. Thanks for your time, any .02 would be welcomed.

Sell the TH350 and use the money to finance the TH700 rebuild (if that's really what it needs). Although it might end up costing more to do that than it would to get it back on the road doing the TH350, in the long run the TH700 is the better street tranny.
If you want to get an idea what it would be like having the TH350, go for about a week without using overdrive - no higher than D all week. Also put an extra 300 pounds in the car to simulate what the lower number 1st gear will be like with the 3-speed tranny. If you think you can live with that, do the TH350 swap.
You'll need a different crossmember and driveshaft in addition to the "conversion" kit.
