LT1 stall in 3rd gen, good idea?

My dad's 91Z needs a tranny rebuild. I told him to get an LT1 style stall converter. I remember giving mine to my buddy (who has an 88 iroc) when I did my T56 conversion (I had a 95 TA). I figure since the LT1's came with a higher stall it would be a good upgrade and wouldn't cost anymore money. What do you guys think?

I wouldn't trust any TC that sat behind a failed transmission. It could just be recycling debris right back into your newly installed trans.

Another option is an S10/Corvette TC for a 700r4. They had a higher stall as well.

But if you've got an TC from an LT1 laying around and you have a later year 700r4 go for it.

no this will be a rebuilt trans and a new converter. Just wondering if it is worth it. Yes, I've heard that the S10 also uses a higher stall also.

Besides that other scenario was years ago and I think his converter failed now that I think about it. But your right my tranny failed too so.......
