Will my rear end hold my power?

I have a stock 2.73 rear end with a Richmond 3.73 gear I am going to put in. I was offered by my engine builder a Ford 9-inch complete and installed for about $900-1000.

Should I go with this? I really don't want to because I am on a tight budget, but I don't want my 3.73's to take a dump at the track. Or any thing I can do to make my rear end hold up.

Not to sure on torque and everything, but mods are below and horsepower should be around 400.

Seems like a good deal for 1000 bucks. Only, I doubt your car will run faster than mine, unless you get nitrous and that nine inch will only slow you down. My advice is, wait until you break the 7.5 and then step up.

Considering the bolt-in housing with all the third gen mounts with aftermarket axles is a little less than that price, it sounds like a good deal. Add in a center section with gears, a posi, brakes, brake lines etc and the price goes up. A "complete" diff is around $2000. You can beef up the 10 bolt for a lot less than that. My car still has a beefed up 10 bolt in it but I'm switching to a 9" this winter because I'll be using a tranny brake next race season and the 10 bolt probably won't last one hit.

If he's offering it complete, just what's included with "complete". Stock factory 28 spline axles, an open carrier and poor factory gear ratio gears is not much of a performance package.
