700R4 just broke

So I was coming home from the gas station and my car wasn't going into overdrive. I get it home and check the fluid and it is a little low but not enough for it to not shift. Then there is smoke everywhere and i look and the cat is covered in tranny fluid
I get the car on a jack and see that the case is cracked where the servo cover retainer is

I did just put a shift kit in here but it worked perfectly. Just wondering what you guys think happened??

Well the car is going to be parked now, winter was coming anyway, and i think i want to put either a 5 or 6 speed in it, and if i go that far might as well put a 350 in thats just laying around the garage

Re: 700R4 just broke

Sorry to hear, but I have a 700R4 if you are interested. I swapped in for a T-56 and its sitting with my 305.

Re: 700R4 just broke

someguy25thz, thanks for the offer but i may be able to just put a bracket over the cover to hold it in place, or save up for the t56 swap myself...

Re: 700R4 just broke

Does anyone know if it could have been the shift kit that caused this to happen??
