10 bolt rears

what cars (non F body) came with a 7.5/7.625" ten bolt? and would be likely to have lower gears? I know some G bodys got them, what about the B bodys?

Re: 10 bolt rears

I doubt a B body got the 7.5" but it probably did. Find an S10 with a 4 cylinder for a deep gear. Astro vans may also have a deeper gear.

The S trucks will have the gears that you are looking for, but they use the Governor Lock differential, which is not good for high performance use. There are too many small parts in them that break easily. The cases have been known to explode too. If you can aford it then I recommend a new Eaton Posi. I don't think you can beat it for street/strip use. You might find a Torsen unit from a LS1 car.

honestly, I don't plan on doing much to it other than a gear, and maybe an intake and exhaust. it's an L03 too, so we aren't talking big power! do you think the gov lock would be ok for an l03 with an intake and exhaust?

Re: 10 bolt rears

Does it have an automatic transmission? If it does then it might hold up fine. Just don't abuse it too much. Burnouts would be fine as long as both tires are on the same surface. Don't try it with one wheel on the road and the other in the mud. The Governor Lock will not lock up if you are moving more than around 20 MPH.
