Hey i need some advice on whats the problem with my camaro, i know stuff about engine and how a trans and drivetrain work but i have never worked on or rebuilt a tranny or rear end myself so i have considered takin it to a shop but before i do i want to knowe whats wrong so i dont get ripped.

the last time the car ran i was giving it gas and engine was reving but not going as fast as it should of it was in drive so i floored it and when i did i heard a snapping sound and the sound of like metal dropping on the ground and now the car will go in park and work and go in nuetral and work but when i put it in any other gear it wont go nowhere.

now the car will run but just dont move drivetrain is still connected and when the car is running torque converter and flywheel spin but nothing else and makes a high bussing noise

i know this what alot to read sorry just giving full detail can someone please help another third gen man, its my only car and my baby and i cant stand not having it its an 1982 camaro z28 with a three speed auto origanal tranny and rear end

sounds like the transmission was slipping, then you broke it. I'd suggest you just install a TH350.

 

kinda sounds like a problem i had not too a while back. at first it wouldnt go as fast, then the gears just wouldnt engage. i checked my tranny fluid and it was very low. so low that there was nothing on the dipstick lol. but yea i just filled it back up with fluid and it ran normally.
