Remote Tranmission Filter

Remote Tranmission Filter

I purchased a remote transmission filter (canister type) a while ago and am going to install it. I have a few questions, which I hope someone would assist.

1. Is the additional filter necessary?
2. Can the filter be mounted horizontally?
3. Will the filter aid in cooling?
4. Is it okay to use rubber lines when connecting tranny to radiator?
5. What I.D. pipe/hose should be used for tranny cooler lines?

Thanks everyone for your help! just trying to do this the right way instead of doing it again later.

It's not necessary
It won't help cooling
It can be mounted in any position
It's just something else to leak, especially with rubber hoses
All IMHO of course

Well, it sounds like it would be a waste of time and money. I guess I was thinking that additional filtration would be beneficial. I was going to mount it after my added tranny cooler.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

If you are using a "questionable" after market torque converter, then this might be a good idea. I would put it in the return (top) line.

Thanks Dana! I have a B&M Holeshot converter. Not sure how questionable it is but know there is much better. I actually need to talk to you about building a 700R4 for me to handle around 500 HP with a Good 2400 to 2600 stall. When would you be available to discuss?
