700r4 ?

will a 700r4 from an 84 vette fit my 85 iroc with a carb'd 350? the trans is toast and a replacement is the only affordable option.

Re: 700r4 ?

If it is an origional vette trans, no. A vette trans case does not have a place to bolt in the trans mount needed for an f-body, or any other GM car. If you have access to the trans you are talking about, have a look. If the trans was transplanted into the vette at some point in it life (with a non vette trans) it can then be considered. The vette output shaft is 3/4 inch shorter, and that may cause a vibration. In summary, I would not do it, even if it would bolt in.

Re: 700r4 ?

ok thanks. it would have sucked to give up my whole paycheck and then have two useless transmissions.
