What Differential For the LS1 Swap

My buddy and I are swapping an LS1 into his 95 2.8L Camaro. Ive been reading about what diff to replace his old one with and im coming up with nothing. Ive read about the brake lines and the gearing.
What im asking for is what year 4th gen camaro differential will work the best?
Will a 97 camaro rear end work? if it is disk brake and from the Z28?

Thanks

the fourth gen differential isn't any stronger than the later, 28 spline third gen diffs, which you probably have in your 89. It's slightly wider as well so you'll have to deal with that.

There are some threads here on beefing up the 10 bolt rear end. You'll have to run the math, determine your needs and desires and decide whether to upgrade what you've got or invest in alternatives.

Re: What Differential For the LS1 Swap

The '85 rear end is going to have 26 spline axles in it. If you are going to do a 4th gen swap then you probably want to get a rear end from an LS car, not the LT1 car. I understand that the LS cars had the Torsen differential and the LT1 cars had the Auburn. The Auburn isn't worth the swap. If you want to build the rear end that you have then get a set of 28 spline axles and an Eaton Posi.
