Will this 1986 700R4 trans bolt to a 1986 V8? I'm trying to understand what the trans out of the 1986 V6 Camaro works with....thank you!

 

There are adapter plates, but your 700 will not survive the torque of a V8.

 

Thank you! So, there is a big difference in a 700R4 for V6 than a 700R4 for the V8. Sounds like the adapter plate won't do much either since the torque capacity of the trans is different. Can you confirm?...and thank you for taking the time to repond.

 

confirmed. Since you'll be hunting, hunt for '87-'93 700R-4s, they're much better than '82-'86 700r-4s. The version you have is easiest to avoid by noticing how the bellhousing has 2 bolts level at the top, while the V8 design is peaked at the top. '87-up versions have the auxillary valvebody inside the pan, which you should drop before purchasing, to verify there are no metal shavings or anything in the pan. These best 700r-4s will attach to any Chevrolet V8 that is commonly swapped into these cars. 4x4 truck versions cannot be installed, so avoid those.
