noob speed sensor question

Hi Guys,
I am swapping my 1989 700r4 for a rebuilt 91 700r4. My question is the sensor toward the very back (i believe called the speed sensor) is different on my 89. Can I simply unbolt the 89 speed sensor and put it in the 91?

FYI - This is my first tranny swap, so have pity Also, I did several searches.

Thanks!

Yes. You might take note of the drive and/or driven gears to make sure the speedo will read correctly.

Re: noob speed sensor question

Thanks JamesC!

I'm assuming if I swap the speed sensor, I will also swap the gear that goes on it so the speedo shouldn't change?

The driven will be fine, but there's also the drive gear to consider. As I understand it, the gear is much easier to swap in an auto than a manual.
