Oops! Need help on T5

Ok the situation is this. It's my son's car and just got done with an engine exchange. He was in a hurry and and when going to refill the transmission he removed the reverse screw instead of the filled plug. We dropped the tranny and opened it up to reattach the screw and retaining clip. we did this and we did have an issue linning up the how the cover went back on but we thought we got it right. Well long story short we reinstalled it put everything back on and he tried to move the stick and says it wont budge.

Any ideas??? He is really bummed and I hope someone can help or give us ideas to try.

Thanks

You didn't try changing gear when it was still out of the car???

Re: Oops! Need help on T5

There are several things that could be wrong. It can be hard to get everything in line in the T5. The rod that shifts 5th gear also works reverse, and thise [parts can get out of whack. The shift linkage in the cover can be a real headach to get lined up. I've fought with the linkage in the cover for a long time trying to get everything back in place. You will just have to take it back apart and fool with it until you get it right.

I figured that we would have to take it back out. We had a hard time getting the shift linkage cover to line up and back on as well is there any trick you found also the RTG gets messed around when we were trying to get the cover back on not much fun. Do we tighten the reverse bolt all the way? It was not all the way in when he took it out.
