T56 VSS and SGI-5 rev C questions
I've looked but haven't found any clear answers to these questions:
1 - What type of signal does the T56 VSS output? Sine? Square? Frequency (PPM)? Voltage? The skulte site says 17 PPM but that seems WAYYY too low.
2 - Skulte also says Autometer makes electrical speedos that will accept the VSS speed sensor directly........do they? Autometer part #5889?

3 - Will the SGI-5 box be needed to run the autometer gauge?
I've read all about the gauge and SGI-5 box, but am just looking for some straight answers. Thanks guys.

Re: T56 VSS and SGI-5 rev C questions
The VSS is a 17 pulse per rev (17tooth reluctor wheel) which gives you anywhere from 25,000 to 40,000 pulses per mile depending on your gearing/tires.
Autometer Electrical Speedo's will accept and calibrate directly to the T56 VSS signal
The pre-90 TPI ECMs can't directly accept the T56 VSS signal, so the dakota (or similar ) box would be required if you need that.
JTR had a decent writeup on the T56 VSS signal and conversions, but I've lost the link right now.

Very cool. I just picked up the Autometer 5889 speedo for $73 shipped to my door on craigslist!
