Need Bellhousing

any one know of a bellhousing for a t5 that fits a 168 tooth flywheel .. long story. and i also know someone will say don't do it but . my camaro has a 468 BBC. I found a world Class t-5 I have everything except the clutch and pressure plate. but tonight i found out that a 168 tooth flywheel will not fit in the bellhousing. the 454 has an externaly balanced flywheel so it is hard to find one that fits the t-5 bellhousing..

I'd be concerned about using a T5 behind a big block though...

Re: Need Bellhousing

i dont believe a 168 tooth bell will fit in the 3rd gen tunnel. Also, you will not find one with a hydraulic slave bracket.

No disrespect 86TA, but you didn't click the link I posted

I really hope this is for some sort of roadrace type setup though... T5's can barely handle small block abuse at the dragstrip (Says the guy with a T5 )

Re: Need Bellhousing

it is for a street driven car what my plans are is to make a 86 iroc in a theme of a 69 big block camaro.
Hugger orange with white rally stripes Weld pro stars 468 BBC yes it has 590 at the flywheel so babying it is a must with a t5 the tire will be bf good wrench traction t/a 's not stickies what i have right now for the project is

1986 Iroc was a 305 700r4
468 BBC 73 block 69 427 heads motor is in the car and running with the stock 700r4
I have the prostars but they have slicks at the moment
I have the t5 the 454 externaly balanced flywheel for a 11 inch clutch came off of a 73 454
complete black interior Plastics
6 point roll bar installed to stiffin the car alittle need sfc still
t-5 master and slave cylinders
pedal assembly
crossmember and drive shaft X2 since there the same for the 700r4
new seats
new center console
Body has been striped and repaired minus drivers door it needs replaced should have kept my old door that i gave away thinking this one was better
and I need the goodmark 2 inch cowl hood but like the 4 inch better so need to make up my mind and order it
need the paint but thats cheap about 600
for christmas my wife got me a new compressor to run air tools and gun to paint it . It just all needs to be put together. the bellhousing I need to figure out. I know the t-5 is rated at about 320 ft lb which I am about double that . so i know it won't live long behind the BBC if I am hard on it . which i don't plan on being. I could do the t56 swap but hawks wants about 2200 for the parts to do the swap. where I got the parts for the t5 for $54.00 dollars thats the trans console and master and slave crossmember and driveshaft pedal assemly . the flywheel was $50.00

My motor makes approximately 450 lb-ft of torque and 450 HP (Based off the crate motor I "blueprinted" the build from)

It's the stock case, my car is being built more street/strip oriented with more emphasis on the strip, but I honestly haven't had a chance to really abuse it yet since I still have the stock 10 bolt rear end.

What I CAN tell you is the straight cut gears make a good bit of noise But that doesn't bug me, I kinda like it. Just feels like a racecar.

But like I said, I don't have enough miles on it to tell you how I really feel about it. I love the dog-ring engagement instead of synchros, full throttle shifting without the clutch is awesome. And the straight cut gears are stronger and take less power to turn than helical cut gears... also nice.

In hindsight though, I really REALLY hope the straight cut gears, 4130 mainshaft and cluster support plate are enough to prevent the gears from spreading to the point that they break when the case flexes... the tranny cost nearly $2,500 (with shipping both ways lol)to build like this, and a TKO 600 would be much "safer" for about the same price. I'm keeping my fingers crossed But if it holds together and doesn't blow up anytime soon, I love it.
