poppin in and out of lockup

poppin in and out of lockup
at around 2k in fourth I can hear my lockup engaging and disengaging
what could cause this

If it persistently does it at a range of throttle opening, look at the TPS. It could have a bad spot where the readings are not linear. The ECM would 'think' the throttle was rapidly changing and command 'unlock'.
Check whether the ECM is commanding lockup when it disengages or not, or if it still disengages when the ALDL pins are jumped. If it's past the ECM look at your brake switch, it's only cheap plastic.
