Hey everyone, my 10 bolt just broke.. i broke 2 pinion teeth off, and not sure what happened..

So since i have to buy gears, i need help deciding which ratio to choose since my car is supercharged. (had 3.73 in it)

Last year at the track i was passing the finish line in 4th gear at about 4000 rpms, and now with the supercharger im worried i will need to hit 5th gear... so does anyone have any sugestions? should i get 3.42s?

let me know what everyone thinks

 

the pinon gear in the 7.5 10 bolt cant take the TQ a eng makes when it's over 400fp. I have a stack of gear sets ripped apart.
had to upgrade to a better rear end.

as for what gear?

what size tire (how tall) are you running now.

3.73's with a 28" tall tire will give you good times.
but then.. you have to baby it out of the Hole.

with 3.42's we still need to know how tall a tire and what type are you using.. it will hold up better.. but not move the car as fast forward.

unless you use more power to the rear end..

what ever combo you do use..and get it to live..
the car will always be faster with a better rear end and a set of deeper gears.. 3.73's /4.10's.. unless you have 800hp

4th gear 4000 rpm maby = 26" tall tire right now?
just takn a stab at it.. i would go with a taller tire if you have alot of power..more then 400hp.

have a set of factry GM 3.42's cheap.(cheap)

i have the stock wheels and tires, and im not sure what the height is. i just know i have a 15 in wheel with a 235 60 r 15 size tire

 

go out with a tape and see how tall they are.. i bet they are 26"

 

235 60 r 15 size tire should be 26.1"

 

26" tall thats what i was thinking with the info you posted.
i would go with a taller tire.. you will pick up some MPH in the 1/4 to.


if your car has power.. try the 3.42's.. but you would be faster with 3.73.s of 4.10s but need a better rear end. and the taller tire

 

are you talking about buying a new ring and pinion for the 10 bolt with a 427? Its time to upgrade to a 9 inch or 12 bolt. And 3.73 gears i am thinking would be best!
