Do you guys drive in D or OD?

I'm just curious to know what is the best way to drive around locally. I normally drive in D and upshift to OD when i hit the highway. I notice a difference when i stomp on it in D. It seems more aggressive performance wise than in OD, at least it feels that way. How do you guys drive locally? Does it make a difference? This is my first car with OD and i'm not sure if it really makes any difference whether or not i just leave it in drive all of the time.

No possible difference in performance. OD lets the car roll as you lift the foot. In D the transmission brakes, = friction = more wear.

not true. third gear is 1:1 and OD is .70, so there will be the feeling of more torque just because of gear multiplication. and as far as the rest, th350 and 400 transmissions have been used in cars forever, they have 1:1 top gears and have reputations for lasting. that said it probably kills a few mpg leaving it it d vs od, so i'd leave it in OD.

What is not true? Read what I quoted, again.
OD is 4th gear and it lets the car roll free wenn off trottle in all gears.
Your statement is correct if driving at high speeds, eccept the "not true". Dont know if you noticed but the OP shifts in to OD at US highway speeds and he talks about stomping. No mather if in 3 or 4, the transmission will downshift in 1 or 2 wenn stomped, in his specified situation.
