Is my 700r4 slipping

I have been fighting a problem with my car for a long time. No matter what i do, if i go WOT and letting the car shift the way it wants, i will blow past the redline.

I thought it was a TV cable problem, so i adjusted it numerous time. Im 100% confident thats set correctly.

If the shift points are set correctly with the TV cable, what can cause it to go past the redline. Is it slipping, governer, shift valves, TV plunger thing?

It only does it if i go WOT in any gear (starting off or downshifting) the needle will go past.

I have to constantly watch the tach so i dont go past.

Any help would be appreciated.

BTW my car feels sluggish till about 3K rpm, im thininking that is just a clogged cat, but i guess the trans can be part of that problem.

Re: Is my 700r4 slipping

i'm having a similar problem. its fairly noticible form 1-2 and most noticible from 2-3. i cant really watch my tach because i swapped another one in so its a little off. but i can just tell by how it sounds and feels.

i added more fluid and it helped a little bit but still no good

does anyone have any input?

Re: Is my 700r4 slipping

I have kinda narrowed it down to my governer being screwed up and allowing it to shift way high. I wont know till spring time when i take the car out and replace the governer, but thats what im thinking.
