I completed an engine swap, from v6 to L98, and when I did this I had a new 700R4 built (performance parts used) and I installed it (new torque converter too). For some reason, the fastest I can go is about 70 mph in 4th gear at about 4700 rpms... anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this? I have manually shifted it up to make sure it did shift into 4th. Would not having my TV cable adjusted a certain way cause this? I know the guy who built my 700R4, and he is really good at it, he has been building them longer than I have been alive. I am just lost on this one. Any help is great! thanx!

Are you certain you are shifting through all the gears? Are you going into third and just feeling the torque converter lock up?

 

I think i am just the worlds biggest idiot, and it never occured to me that my tach is wwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy wrong... gotta love 20 year old electronics!

 

I was gonna say...4700 at 70mph?? Glad you figured it out though lol
