Here's an interesting one for you...

I picked up a T5 off of CraigsList to do a swap in my Camaro.
I ran a check on the tag, the code 1352-062, refers to a 84 5.0 trans.

Now, I was an idiot and didn't pay attention when I picked it up and now I noticed it has a 14 spline input. Both the sticker and the metal tag on the trans case have the -062 number, which points V8, but the input shaft points to V6. Is it possible he just switched the tags and screwed me over? What trans do I have?

As far as I know, 27 spine was for a V8 and 14 was for a V6. I never heard of a 14 in a v8 at all and I am sure there isnt even a clutch to make it work anyways. Hope that helps.

 

it is a v6 trans, the v6 clutch MIGHT work on the v8 flywheel but im not sure.
You can buy one at autozone and just return it if it wont work.
You can try clutches for trucks like an s-10 or a 1500 might work.

 

i have run into the same issue. i have a t-5 with a 14 tooth spline but all records show it is for a v8. you can get a clutch kit for an s-10 or even a 11 inch clutch kit from an astro van. just sacrificing the durability of the v8 gears.

i personally didnt want the issue so i found myself a 27 tooth t5. but... i would still like to find this out for resale of my extra t5.
