Strength of a 4th gen T5 VS 3rd gen T5?

Found one in the local junkyard today..would this be better for my LT1 rather than the 86 T5 i have now? i know the newer ones are world class but are the V6 versions different? i know ive seen this on here before but i couldnt find it,dont mean to bring it up again.

You don't want a V6 T5 for use behind a V8. Primarily what makes one T5 stronger then another is the gear ratios. V6 T5's have higher gears to get the cars moving faster, thus they're weaker then the V8 T5's just by nature.
