does anyone know if there is a such thing as a governed differential in an 89 camaro

Early 3rd gen cars had a Gov-Lok Limited Slip. however; by 1989 a different Limited Slip was standard. Unless the rear axle was changed.

You never know where one of those Governor Locks is going to show up. If you have one you better treat it nice or it will break.
