88 posi unit 10 bolt chunk swap

Can I put my 1988 Posi unit chunk into my 1985 iroc?

As far as I know yes as long as there both 10 bolts with the same number of splines. If the 88 has the 28 spline carrier you would also have to use it's axles. I'm sure someone will chime in who knows more about it then me.

The 28-spline axles didn't appear until 90, though a few may have crept in in late 89. The answer is yes, the 88 will swap to the 85. General info follows:

Be sure that it is the right series for the gears that you are using. The 7.5 10 bolt uses a 2 series for the 3.08 to 2.41 gears and a 3 series for 3.23 to 4.10 gears. You can't use a 3 series with 2 series gears...
