Really need your opinion on this, for my diff.

I will be needing to purchase a new set of 3.73 gears for my 84 z28 with 10bolt 7.5 housing, which brand should I purchase if I am looking for equal to or preferably stronger than the stock gm gears. Reason is I have read a thread saying that Richmond gears are noisy (which I would not want) and that they are sometimes softer metal. Being that I had also purchased a 26 spline Eaton posi is there any point and are moser axles stronger than the stock ones. From my understanding is it true that I should have purchased a 28 spline posi and axles and it actually would have fit in my stock housing? Thanks in advance to everyone on this site, you all have saved my butt many of times.

I went with Yukon gears as I had heard the Richmonds were a bit noisey...not that I would hear them over the engine. I'm out building mine up now so have no idea yet just how much noise they make.

28 spline diff would have fitted in the stock housing no probs. I'm swapping from 26 to 28 myself and have a new set of axles.

I've been dealing in Yukon gears for a few years now and I have had very few problems with them. I've had a few that made a little noise, but I've also had a few Richmond, US Gear, Motive and some others that did the same thing. Every now and then you get a noisy gear from any manufacturer. As for strength, any good name brand gear should be strong.

The 28 splie parts would have fit with no problems. Moser 26 spline axles will be a littel stronger han the stock 26 spline axles.

I pefer OEM gears, but the US Gear is a good choice. Make sure you use a steel cap on the load side. Run the gears at the minimum clearance recommended, and use Lubrication Engineers rear end oil, if you want the best out there.
