Transmission Hook up. PLEASE HELP!
hey guys. really need some help here. i have my motor out of my car on the chains on the engine hoist. i have had my transmission completely rebuilt and i am going to hook up the transmission to the motor outside the car and drop it in as one unit. i decided the best way to do it was to install the torque converter to the flywheel and stick the transmission into the torque converter and bolt it up that way. well after about an hour of trying to get it on i have a brand new torque converter with lots and lots of end play now and im screwed. please what would be the best step by step way to hook this trans to this motor so i can take my car off the jack stands its been on for a year now. I have dont a lot harder things than this and its really bugging me that i cant get this done right and my torque converter is screwed up. so somebody please help a 19 year old kid that just wants to drive his car again!! thanks guys!

Re: Transmission Hook up. PLEASE HELP!
install torque converter into tranny, line up tranny with motor install 2 bolts to hold tranny on engine, then line up flywheel bolt holes with torque converter, tighten converter bolts, install all housing bolts and done

Install it on the tranny first.
There will be alot of endplay but it should not be more than about a half inch. This is fine.

Re: Transmission Hook up. PLEASE HELP!
always install the converter in the trans first, if it's not aligned correctly you will break the pump in the trans. I made this mistake with a TH400 several years ago.
I'd have the trans checked out as well, you won't get far if it's damaged..
