tourqe converter help
What size stall converter should i use for my engine? i have a 5.7 liter tpi and i just put in a new tci transmission with a 2000 stall torque converter but it is slower than my original
Re: tourqe converter help
If your motor is all stock a 2K converter should work really well. I'm willing to bet your TV cable probably isn't adjusted right. It it's not set right it throws off the shift points, takeoff ability, basically everything. If you're sure the TV is set properly then it could be an issue with the governor calibration. Unless the converter is messed up somehow, the 2K stall speed should be about just right.

No, thats the speedometer cable. The TV cable is what attaches to your throttle linkage on the throttle body and then runs down to the passenger side of the transmission. It attaches right next to where the dipstick goes in the trans. Adjusting it just a little will have a big impact on the way the trans acts.

oh ok im hoping and thinkin thats the problem...thanks man.. i also like the way u have your z28 set up
Re: tourqe converter help
Yeah it's absolutely crucial that you get it adjusted right. It affects both the shift points and how much line, or internal pressure you have in the transmission. If your line pressure is too low you can easily burn up the clutches in your trans. Do a search here on the boards for adjusting the TV cable and you'll find tons of info on how to get it set right.
