another transmission fluid question...

Hey guys, do you think that Castrol DEX/MERC transmission oil is safe to use in the 700r4 in my 1991 trans am? the label says "for older GM and ford vehicles."

Should be ok to use. I bought the cheapie Coastal brand from Vato Zone, and it says the same thing on the label, "Dex/Merc". I think the only GM trannys it probably isn't recommended for is the brand new ones that call for the new Dex IV stuff.

Cool thanks! I only need to add a little bit (half a pint tops probably) since I lost some transmission fluid when I removed the radiator (trans. cooler lines).

Oh hell, if you're just topping it off a bit I'm sure that fluid won't hurt anything at all.

Yeah that's what I was thinking too but I thought that it couldn't hurt to ask.
