dont know what it is other than its 411 gears.

No it won't fit.

Trying to swap the entire diff over will be very difficult. Providing it's even close to the same width, there's no easy way to attach the torque arm.

GM produced 3 different 10 bolt diffs. 7.5/7.625, 8.2 and 8.5". Nothing between these 3 diffs is interchangeable.

No different than putting in a OEM Ford 9" & having to fabricate a torque arm bracket, make LCA & spring mounts.

So while it isn't real easy. It isn't anything new either.

Nothing is impossible and with enough time, money and fabrication skills, anything can be accomplished. For things like the diff swap, it can be a whole lot easier to just buy an aftermarket direct bolt in diff and chances are it will end up being cheaper and safer.

It's an 8.5 10 bolt with a Traction Lock differential,. The right bearing cap (left in the picture because it's upside down) is on backwards. I can't tell exactly what it came out of without measuring it. It actually looks more like a '71 or '72 A body rear end. I know some Chevelle guys who would like to have it.

Hello 85berlinetta2.8!!

Maybe I have your 9 bolt BW, I found a 9 bolt BW 3.27 from a 350, when I should have had a 9 bolt BW 3.45 in my 1987 IROC TPI 5 speed 305!!

My car was bought in Ontario!!
