t5 swap need some advice
ive decided that i want to put a manual in my 89 formula. ive been doing my research and i just have a couple more questions to ask before i tackle this project.
ive heard several different answers to this question. im looking at buying a 350 and possibly boring .30 over and putting in a performance cam, but still running the tpi intake. will the t5 wc hold up to what im looking to put in front of it?
if i can manage to find another one i may be getting a 350 vortec with a 4 bolt main, i missed an opportunity to buy the last one i saw at a steal of a price.
also will i have to replace my ecm to change my idle? or can i reprogram it?
are there any other major mods i will have to look forward to doing besides cutting holes and mounting up the pedals to the firewall?
im confident i can do this job after rebuilding a 700r4 with no prior knowledge, but i just want to make sure i wont hit any suprises along the way
i was also curious to know if i will have to change the starter out? and i wanted to know more about the clutch/flywheels.
current setup
305 tpi with 87000 miles, rebuilt 700r4with upgraded boost valve and sunshell
thanks!

Re: t5 swap need some advice
picked up a wc t5 yesterday for one heck of a deal, its stuck in 2nd gear but im going to take it apart tomorrow and see whats up with it. it also came with a brand new centerforce clutch and most of the hydraulics. i went to the junkyard and managed to find a set of pedals and a flywheel. i just need to know about the pilot bearing and where to find a cap for my clutch resevoir? also does anyone know where i can find the shift boots? any suggestions where to buy a pro 5.0 shifter from?
i also decided just to stick with the 305 for the time being and just get some practice in behind the 5 speed before i spend alot of money on a motor swap. thanks
