Re: posi traction

First check your RPO codes for G80 (Limited Slip rear) if you do not find this code you have what is called a "Open rear". Posi-traction is a old term used by Chevrolet Div in the 60's for a limited slip rear. You can buy a LIMITED SLIP carrier or replace the whole rear. Whichever way, it is going to be expensive ($500+ range) just to do burmouts. Which by the way are not a good way to treat mechanical parts

Re: posi traction

Dod your car come with a limited slip differential (posi)? If it did then it will have RPO code G80. This is the ecode for the LSD. The codes are on a white decal usually on the bottom of the console lid. They are 3 digit codes and will tell you everything about the car.

If you had G80 and it no longer works then that means you had an Auburn and it is now worn out. You can not rebuild an Auburn. If you have 3.23 to 3.73 gears then I recommend replacing the Auburn with a new Eaton Posi. The Eaton is much better than the Auburn. This will tell you what needs to be done to install it. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showth...t=install+posi
