rear end knock under heavy acceleration

i have a 91 camaro rs with spohn rear lower control arms, swaybar and panhard bar. the car has a chip in the computer and a raptor 700r4 trans. when i accelerate hard and shift manually, from first to second there is a knock from the back that sounds like the axle is falling out. any ideas what to look for? i have checked and everything is tight could it possibly be the torque arm?

thanks

i will check those things, thankyou. also if by chance the rear gears are gettingworn out, or the backlash is wrong, would that also make the noise. i jacked it up today and it seems to me that there is alot of slop when you turn the tires forward then backward.

Yeah, the first thing to check of course would be to make sure your rearend is still in sound condition. Once that's taken care of, I can tell you that Spohn torque arms are notorious for making a bit of noise. It doesn't matter if you have the spherical rod end or the poly bushing where it connects to the crossmember. They both make a bit of noise when you really nail the gas hard. The bolt doesn't fit inside the rod end or poly bushing steel sleeve tight enough, so you get a clack when you first nail the gas and load up the torque arm. Oops, just reread your post and it sounds like you actually still have the factory torque arm. If so, disregard everything I said above, other than making sure your rearend isn't worn out!
