I already used the search for this but i dont know whether its one or the other. What happened was i was driving at about 20kms through a parking lot and went to park next think i know approaching the space the car idle starts to kinda bog out then it the car died.

I went to put the car in reverse and it did so i started going out of the parking lot to the main road car almost dies again. all the way home it was shifting really funny, hit the gas and it would rev up high and start surging and lunging forward trying to pick up. i turn on to my road, rev SHOOTS up FAST and i had to pull over. THERE WAS NO POWER!!! i was close enough to my house to get it home and i certainly didnt want to pay for a tow. i had to go 20kms home it wouldnt go faster.

Car starts and runs fine, when i put it in drive it will lung as if it went into gear but when you take your foot off the brake it doesnt go anywhere then give it gas and rpms will shoot up. and theres a whiney kind of noise coming from the trans area.

anything you guys can tell me would be great similar story on another thread so i just want to make sure what it is.

you need 10 skills on a scale of 10-1.

lol if you have never worked on a car dont rebuild it. if you have done some work on cars then dont rebuild it. if you rebuild trannys for a living then rebuild it. there is a reason transmission mechanics get paid redonculouse amounts of money.

but yah my trans makes that wirring noise you are talking about. it has done it since i bought the car 4 years ago. ive put 20,000k on it and its now giving me issues sort of along the lines that you describe. so it could just need a torque converter. but if your pulling the trans to replace it might as well have the trans rebuilt.
