Rear end, identification

On the passenger side of the rear axle of my camaro there is a number: 800 0(or maybe C)291 2. Does anyone knows what this means?

Welcome to TGO. The 10-bolt FAQ at the top of the page will be helpful with ID, but not with using the axle code.

Re: Rear end, identification

I'm assuming it's an 85 but I see no 800 code. Recheck that code. The 0's could be J, Q, C.

If the diff is still original, it's easier to find out what's in it by knowing the model of the car, engine, transmission. Even knowing the axle code doesn't mean that's what's still in it. The only way to know for sure what's in the diff is to pull the cover off and look inside. Chances are the oil needs to be changed anyway.

Thank you for answers. Under the diff. I found this: GM N 22522676. Under, left side: K6 or K8. On the right side: X in a circle over J06 over 4. Anyone who knows what info. this can give?

That's nice but they still mean nothing. What is it in?

It is in a 1983 camaro, but I dont think that the engine and drivetrain is original.

If that's the case, popping the diff cover and taking a peek is your best bet.

Is there an RPO decal in the center console?

Thank you for answers. Can't see any RPO decal. So I will take off the diff cover and see what is inside.
