Can somesome take a look at my contact pattern?
Can someone with experience with setting these up let me know what ya think? This is my first setup and not entirely sure what optimum looks like. I haven't just slapped it together and this is what I got, been messing with it for a few days, (been busy), and this is what I've got so far. They're Richmond 3.73's with a BL of .014. I've tried to get it tighter, like around .009-.012, but haven't been able to without over shooting and making it too tight.

Looks ok to me back lash should be OK I'm sure some one with a little more experience will chime in tho

The pinion is too deep. Use a pinion shim that is about .005 thinner and try again. Be sure to set the pinion bearing preload the same each time and get the backlash right. If Richmond says to set it at .007 to .009 then set it there.

Ok noted, I already lowered it once already cause it was even deeper the first time. But I did read though, that Richmonds like to be a little on the deep side and therefore toe heavy, (towards center of ring). Supposedly it adds to the strength a little bit, but sacrifices some noise? It even looks like in there illustrations, their "ok" patteren even looks toe heavy.
Re: Can somesome take a look at my contact pattern?
richmonds are known to make noise with a perfect pattern. i dont know why, I have heard set them a lil loose, then when the rear end warms up, the gears will get tighter and the noise will quit. Im by no means an expert, but if anybody else has an opinion on this, lets hear it.
