1986 Iroc Shifter Cable Problem
1986 Iroc Shifter Cable Problem
First off, love the forums. I'm glad to finally be a member
Long story short, two Camaros ended up in my backyard. This Iroc has some sort of shifter problem. I know it has something to do with the shifter cable, I'm just not sure what it is (or better yet, is not) doing.
I can get under the car and manually shift the transmission. The shifter doesn't shift it though. When the shifter is moved, the black cable moves, but the middle steel cable does not.
Here's some pictures for a visual

This is a before shot

And this is the part that moves when the shifter is moved in the car.
Here's the link to the youtube video:

Its freshly uploaded so it may not be ready for viewing yet, give it time.
Any help would be appreciated. It seems like this black piece shouldn't be moving with everything but I'm not a whiz at cars. Still learning. Any advice would be appreciated. I'd really like to get this car running in time for summer school sessions
Thanks
Ryan

Re: 1986 Iroc Shifter Cable Problem
lol easiest fix in the world.
That black piece just clips to the base of the cable. Duuur. Just took a little more fiddling.
Now lets see if it comes loose again.
