82 Z28 with factory 4-speed

do these have hydraulic clutches or manual?

does it matter if it's a saginaw or a T-10 what type of clutch would be used?

also i saw somewhere that they had a 2.73 rear gear ratio standard and a 3.23 optional.

would that have anything to do with the type of transmission?

The clutch was mechanical up to 84. Clutch shouldn't matter. I've never seen one, but it's going to be either a 10 spline or 26 spline input shaft. The rear gears were usually based off of transmission choice. Autos normaly got the highway gears (2.77 or something close). Depending on the model you could order 3.23 or 3.42.

Re: 82 Z28 with factory 4-speed

In my 82 camaro it had a mechanical clutch. In 1982 GM use two different manual transmissions. Borg Warner T-10 it had the 9 bolt side cover later in the year they switch to a Saginaw it had 7 bolt transmission bolt cover. If you get one from 1982 make sure to get the shifter because they are not cheap. My reverse went out and the shifter siege up, so I switch to a th350.

AFAIK Saginaw was a 10 spline hub, whereas I had the T10 that had 26 spline.

I can only say my T10 equipped '82 had an optional 3.23 gear set installed as shown on the factory invoice. Didn't say what was standard.
