Car is a 91 camaro RS, V8 305 TBI, 175k miles, with a 4L60E stock transmission (according to my vin number). Apparently they rely more on the computer than the 700r4, at least that's what I was told. The car will sometimes shift ok and most of the time shift late. This happened from one day to the next, just like that. I first noticed something was wrong when I put my car on drive and it shift hard...scared the sh*t outta me. After that it never shifted normal.
Here's what I tried: dropped the trans pan and changed the filter, added the necessary amount of fluid, took it for a test drive...no cigar. One guy said that his car was doing the same thing and he changed the computer, after wasting a boat load of money on unnecessary repairs. He wants me to buy a computer for like 80 bucks just to try. I don't know. Help!!!

 

does it have a modulator on the pass side of the trainy? if it does, check the vaccume line (rubber ends). if they are connected and not cracked, the vaccume mod might be bad.

 

I'm pretty sure the 4l60e didn't come in till 94 and if that's the case you have a 700 or a 200 r4 and the TV cable would need to be adjusted.

He specified 4L60 which have never had a vacuum modulator. Only the TH200C trannys from 1982-83 had them for our cars from the factory.

 

200, 200C, 2004R, 700R4, 4L60, 4L60E never had a vacuum modulator. The TH350, TH350C & TH400 had vacuum modulators. The computer does not have anything to do with the shifting on a 700R4/4L60, only the torque converter lockup. Late shifts cause hard shifts. If the TV cable is adjusted correctly, then it could be a TV system problem. TransGo offers the fix for this in all of their Shift kits.

 

not tryin to start an argument but th th200c is an identical style case to the th350c which is why most people who have them think they have a th350.the one I stripped out of and 82 crossfire had the metric tag and modulator. I'm not aware of any metric th350's.
