Transmission adjustment cable

I just wanted to know if there is a specific setting or can it be set to where you feel it shifts best for your liking without damaging the transmission.

Re: Transmission adjustment cable

Always start with the TV cable being "tight" at WOT. If the shifts are to late at part throttle after this adjustment, than you can back off a "click" or two, but NO MORE than this as you can damage the transmission. The "modified" TransGo Heavy Duty Shift kit will work here and solve a lot of problems while getting the part throttle shifts on time, better downshifts, firmer WOT upshifts, etc.

Re: Transmission adjustment cable

I have a stage 2 shift kit and trans cooler, but with some mods and a turbo its nice keeping the shifts a bit later than regular.
I just didnt know if its safe, I dont want to poop out my transmission though.

Re: Transmission adjustment cable

The Stage II by who? The shifts being later and not to firm is ok. You just don't need the firm part throttle shifts. Smooth and quick is best.

Shift kit from B&M, shifts are stiff sometimes 1st to 2nd mostly.

Re: Transmission adjustment cable

If you want to do this right, take out the B&M valve body kit and install one of my "modified" TransGo Performance Shift kits. They come with the Corvertte servo, larger boost valves, new modified accumulator pistons and oem pins, Torlon checkballs, etc. This will give you progressively firmer shifts with more throttle. In other words, at light throttle openings, smooth shifts, and when you get aggressive they will get aggressive.

Re: Transmission adjustment cable

I played with the cable and its just fine, shifts are quick and solid no slips.
When I need a rebuild I definitely consider a rebuild kit you have to offer but for now Im just going to drive it.
Your kits seem agressive for my application but it doesnt hurt to build it stronger, Im just stock engine with rear mount turbo around the 300HP 360TQ with a small stall and oil/ trans coolers.
