Ok need to know if a '95 4l60-E is better than an '85 700r4
Here's the deal, tomorrow I'm picking up a 3.4 engine to swap into my '85 Camaro, as my 2.8 block is cracked, and the guy said he would give me the transmission for $50 as well, which is a unique opportunity for a cheap transmission, and I'll even have my friend with me, so I'll be able to transport it with his truck as well.
So the question is, is the 1995 4l60-E any better, or stronger than my 1985 700r4, because the thing is the right price IF it is an upgrade, otherwise I don't need it, so I need some input on whether or not it's an upgrade, and how much of one or how so, also would like to know if the tq converter is or not, or if the stall is any different.
And yes, I know that to run a 4l60-E I need the ECM from the car.

Yes the 4L60E is a better trans as far as stock units go. there were updates thruout the years to address different issues. you can even take most of the rotating parts and exchange into the 85.

To use the 4L60E "as is" you will need a stand alone computer to make it work, and that would work with the motor also. As far as exchanging parts, your output shaft is what you will need to keep, everything else as far as the rotating parts will interchange as earlier stated. Add the Corvette servo and larger boost valves while it is apart. If I can be of help, let me know? Dana
