Slave Cyl question.

Ok, I ADMIT I am a total n00b!!

I see my clutch slave cyl has NO bleed screw as such. Just what appears to be a brass plug screw.

Just HOW should one flush / bleed one's Slave Cyl on an 89 Firebird Formula with a 305???

HALP!!

Re: Slave Cyl question.

That internal allen head plug is the bleeder screw.

Be sure to hold a rag over it when your buddy pumps the pedal, or brake fluid will shoot everywhere

Re: Slave Cyl question.

You can use that screw, but there is a less messy way to do it. Jack the car up and crawl under there and unbolt the slave cylinder from the bellhousing. Push in the plunger slowly and release it a few times. This will bleed the entire system in 3-4 strokes. I've used it several times on my Camaro when I had problems with the line from the slave to the masster and it worked great every time. Just make sure the little reservoir cup doesn't run dry. Oh, and make sure you leave the cap on it or you will shoot brake fluid everywhere.

This method works very well. I always empty the reservoir and and fill with new fluid before I start. Dean
