How well will my rear end hold up with LS1???
I would like to keep everything stock on my car except few minor cosmetic things and I would like to eventually purchase a LS1 for it and was wondering how well the rearend will hold up with it. The number on the tag is:

i wouldnt worry to much about the rear unless ya have a good posi.. if you adapt the 5 speed to the ls1 it will blow...

Looks like maybe you already have the stronger of the 2 available 3rd gen rear ends.....The Aussie 9-bolt.
While it can be broken, it is less likely to break, than a 10-bolt is. 3000+rpm clutch dumps on slicks are still to be avoided, but still more likely to survive than a 10-bolt.

LS1's have the same 10-bolt rear as 3rd gen cars. So it looks like a 9-bolt that you are mating up, well it a better then a 10-bolt rear. Stronger is a poor description, anything can break when people do Dumb&Dumber things to mechanical parts.
