T-56 or A built 700r4
I'm saving my money up for a 350 with vortec heads and a roots style supercharger, forged pistons. As for Carb thinking of using a q-jet with a jet kit. What would the best budget way to go? This is a dd and once in awhile track runner.

either one would be fine. You can beef both of them up to handle gobs of power. If your going to race more, a automatic is more consistent and easier to get off the line. Some people here will say that the 700r4 is a very weak transmission. I have a 700r4 rebuilt with a probuilt kit, that is suppose to handle 550ish hp. I have not had a problem at all with it, and is working great.Knock on wood

Track - 700R4 built
Fun - T56
I still would go with a build 700r4 with what you are doing to it, but going through the gears is fun if it is a DD and more street friendly

Ditch the slushbox! Go T56 all the way. Do you want to DRIVE your car or just steer it?

Ever heard of a manual/automatic valve body? You can drive your car when you need to and steer it any other time. And if you're good at it, you can actually drive your car with an automatic valve body.

I think you wrote that wrong.
Get a T5 built with a G-force case n all the goodies to handle POWER.
Or get a 200R4 built for power, a shift kit n a nice stall 22-2800.
